Crazy Modern Log Cabin Quilt

This is what I have been doing:

So I need to finish it.  It is sitting on my table and has been all week.  I still have to quilt a few blocks.  Baste it and sew on a back and then bind it and viola, 20 hours later, we have a quilt.  I will finish this thing this week, because I am on a new month for my audible downloads and so I get a new audio book and all of a sudden I am quilting like crazy.  Then, the house gets cleaned up and everything gets done because I want to quilt (without guilt).  Scary but true.

New Looks for 2012

Beaded pipe cleaners as headbands, who new.  Ruby loves to spend her time making these.  She has amazing focus for someone who is just 2!  And then they dance!  Where do they get this stuff?

This look will go down in history as adorable!

Forward Motion!

Most friends who read my blog know that we are getting ready to move and start a new business.  (Casey's Windmill and Well Service).  Whats hard is being at a stand still.  We have sort of moved some stuff, everything we don't need.   Anyway, I really need forward motion to keep me going.  I am not finding that right now, so its pretty frustrating.  Don't get me wrong, there is plenty, and I mean plenty, to do.  But, I work best under pressure, so I am not doing it.  So that is what is happening around here.  Plus, we were back to school this week, after a 3 week break that was suppose to be really fun, but really wasn't too great for the most part.  (again because of the lack of forward motion.)  Does this make any sense at all?

So, since we are moving soon, here are some more home pictures just because...

I like to bring weeds in the house as much as possible.

I love crazy quilts.  The deep colors and textures of all the fabrics put together.  These are mandatory at our house in the winter!  BTW, Casey made this bed for Ivy, she is letting us use it until we move to Fort Sumner.  He is quite the craftsman, it is iron.  Someday he will make me a iron canopy bed I am hoping.

A very spare bedroom for quick clean up and relaxed sleeping (wish it helped anyway).  Trust me, I need all the help I can get to relax, it runs in my family we are not relaxed people.

I will say that the minimalist look that I am going for is easy to clean up and dust.  I love it when everything is put away and tidy.  This week we cleaned on Thursday, and have somehow managed to keep it pretty picked up over the weekend.  It is so much more relaxing when there is not junk everywhere in this house.  Especially since we have all been sick with fevers and colds.  ALL of us!  At least this way we can get it all over on one weekend and not stretch it out over the entire rest of the month and into Feb.  I HOPE!!!

So when we move, I am going to have many many huge garage sales at our new house.  It has a garage attached and is in a community where there are people!  Both of these things are helpful for successful garage sales  right?

Its almost all melted.....

Thank goodness!  We had a lot of moisture from the end on Nov-the end of Dec.  When it snows a lot, a rancher works, a lot.  Cows need food, so we feed hay, and feed hay and feed hay.  And sometimes we get stuck.  BTW Chevy trucks have a very low clearance.  Thanks to Ivy, I have some pictures of the events!

This is one time when Casey stuck it and we had to bring the tractor and pull him out.  (This happened twice in one week.)  Trust me, driving a tractor with four kids bouncing along is not that fun.

During a blizzard, the cows stay up in the trees if they have any.  Cows are smarter than you think  (once in a while.)

 This is the norm around here.  Are they not just awesome little things?  How did we get so lucky to have these little rays of sunshine in our lives?  I had to share.

This piece has a neat history.  My mom redid it about 20 years ago, and then redid it again this year and gave it to me.  Love it.  Its paint job is beyond words.  Casey found the shed one day during shipping when he was helping a neighbor.

With my neutral phase, I have sometimes wished these were white.  Isn't that stupid?

One of my  favorite things, trouble is I bought it for one house and it hasn't had a great home since.  Might have to design a kitchen around it.

Redneck Family Event

Hi, this is whats happening around here this evening.  Wow, lots of fun.  I borrowed a cauldron from my mother. (I hope she doesn't really expect it back any time soon, as I have many  ideas tallow, soap etc...)  We are boiling the head of the elk Casey got back in Oct. for a European mount.  We (i mean he) will bleach it out with hydrogen peroxide after we get all the meat boiled off the head.  I am excited about this because of my natural phase of decorating I am in right now.  I like everything muted and monochramatic and bringing the outside in.  For winter I want my house full of pinecones, pine boughs, dried tall grasses and dried up sunflowers.  This is the goal, but first I need to figure out what to do with all my junk, clutter, and mess.  I am trying to pack it way, but it takes some serious dicipline because I also like the stuff.  Anyway, what fun to have a fire going outside.  Makes me feel more connected to my pioneer ancestors.  Oh, and we do enjoy being rednecks!
